The Energy Institute has been engaging in the issue of energy efficiency and presents at this portal current projects as well as results of its latest research in this field. The considerations of this topic happen at an economic oriented, technical and judicial level.
Additionally this portal should offer other experts the possibility to make their research results, experiences and vision accessible for a wide basis. Therefore we want to sincerely invite you to participate in this process and to get in contact with us.
Editors of energyefficiency.at:

Name: Johannes Reichl
Position: chief editor
Education:
Johannes Reichl has a doctoral degree in Statistics from the Johannes Kepler University Linz (Austria).
Area of Expertise:
The federal state of Upper Austria is one of the first European regions that have implemented the targets of the EU Directive on end-use energy efficiency and energy services in a programme called "Energy Star 2010". This programme takes up the propositions made in the EU directive 2006/32/EC and asks for an annual slowdown of the growth of energy consumption of one percent. The programme is in force since 2005 and shall be implemented at least until 2010.
Due to the structure of the Upper Austrian energy sector (the federal government is co-proprietor of all local supply companies for grid-bounded energy) it was possible to assign the responsibility for accomplishing the energy savings to the three largest grid-bound utilities in Upper Austria which shall prove that they have conducted actions saving one percent energy of their trading volume per year. The Energy Institute was assigned with the monitoring and verification of these actions on energy efficiency, where Johannes Reichl participated in this project in a leading position.
Since then his research is focused on all aspects of energy efficiency: analysis of the effectiveness of the various energy efficiency measures, the impact of energy efficiency on the economy and the development of strategies for a successful enhancement of energy efficiency in Austria and Europe.
Additional to this Johannes Reichl is active in the Austrian and European standardisation. Curriculum Vitae
